So I have an admission to make - I don't speak Swedish. There, I said it. I understand if you are done with this blog and feel you would rather not waste your time with a mono-lingual moron. If you are still here, I appreciate your forgiveness and will endeavor to never let you down again.
For those of you who don't know, Box is from Sweden. My admitted failing has made reading the website particularly difficult and the translation online is difficult to follow in parts but here goes. The Box distillery has been producing new make spirit since the end of 2010 in a building that formerly housed a wood-fired power plant and latterly a switch-board for the communications network. To the best of my understanding the whisky takes its name after a company from the mid 19th Century which was responsible for the fabrication of boxes but I am open to correction on this. My notes:
Appearance: Yellow Gold
Nose: Vanilla with a hint of citrus orange; very light smoke covers a fruity sweetness; milk chocolate.
Taste: The fruity sweetness emerges through the smoky base; milk chocolate is fleeting with a light and spicy tingle on the palate,
Finish: A sweet chocolaty finish; reasonably long with very limited showing of the peat smoke.
The best part of this dram for me was the nose - the delicate wisp of the peat smoke floating over the fruit was very pleasing. An all-round nice dram that was much more accessible after the addition of a drop of water.
